Golden Gamble? Submitted: 19-Aug-10

All fourteen rounds of the RMSCC Northern Championship have now been completed and each drivers best seven scores have been added up to give the two semi final grids in this year's chase for the gold roof. Steve Holgate #51 has topped the table throughout qualifying which gives him the right to chose the date of his semi final and he has chosen to take Tuesday 14th September Dan Rogers #29 closed the gap a litle over the last few rounds but second in the table still gives him a pole position in the opposing semi final to Steve. Ant Dewhurst #1 was another who made a late run and a good score at the final round saw him move ahead of Chris Hodgson #19 and take third place. The semi finals will also see two debutants in the shape of #12 Dylan Brown and #57 Michael Whitley. A full list of the top twelve and the reserves can be found on the forum points page.

Lee's a Little Late Submitted: 18-Aug-10

Lee Brown #5 has continued his rich vein of form in the final round of the qualifiers for the Northern Championship. Unfortunately for Lee his maximum score is a little late to push him into the top 12 for the semi finals. At a busy night at Nelson, Lee was quick out of the blocks to take heat 1 from a lively Matthew Fenton #90. Heat 2 was a battle royale with Chris Crewe #15 taking victory ahead of Les Cotton #60. The consolation was always going to be tough with the top four in the grading list doing battle with another eight racers all intent on securing a top three place to qualify. That proved to be the case as Ant Dewhurst#1 pipped Tony Blackburn#4 for first place and Dan Rogers #29 overcame Mike Tomkinson #35 on the countback to take the final qualifying place. The final was all about trying to catch the flying yellow top and in the end Lee#35 won it comfortabley with a three figure score. Ant #1 was runner up with Tony #4 taking third. The meeting was rounded of with a destructive GN where Mattew#90 ended up with a convertable slotstox and #66 Bernard Dewhurst took the victory

Tony Blackburn - D.S.M Submitted: 10-Aug-10

Yet another RMSCC title disappeared over the border in to Yorkshire as Tony Blackburn #4 became the 2010 Danny Standring Memorial winner. Tony had followed home Dan Rogers #29 in heat 1 to qualify for the final. Heat 2 was won by a very on form Micky Smith #17 beating defending champion Ste Holgate #51 to the chequered. A hard hitting consolation was taken by Ant Dewhurst #1 with Dylan Brown cementing the final qualifying spot. Tony made no mistake in the final but was pushed hard by Micky, with Dan taking the final podium place. The meeting was rounded off with Dylan Brown #12 winning the grand national. A special thanks to Carole Hirts from PSR for the meeting sponsorship in memory of Danny. A more indepth report is available on the articles page.

Points Race Hots Up Submitted: 05-Aug-10

The battle for silver has suddenly started to get interesting. With two months to go, #51Steve Holgates lead at the top has been cut by defending champion #29 Dan Rogers to just sixteen points. With Ant Dewhurst #1 only two behind Dan, it looks like a three way battle to the end of the season. A hat-trick of final wins in July sees Chris Crewe #15 regain red grade for August. With three red tops (12, 66 98) slipping into the blues for this month and #35 Mike Tomkinson getting the break from white, August should produce some outstanding racing.

Fifteen is supreme in Thirteen Submitted: 04-Aug-10

Chris Crewe #15 made full use of his downgrading to blue to clean up at round 13 on the Nelson Short Track. There were some good results from Tony Blackburn #4 and Ant Dewhurst #1 on a track they rarely race on. Short track specialist Dan Rogers#29 also had a good evening and Mick Whitley#57 deserves a mention with a heat third, heat win and final fourth from red.
